Welfare Representatives
The current JCR welfare reps are Gaving Jackson ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Welfare reps are there to provide any information, help or guidance needed on welfare issues. They can provide welfare resources such as rape alarms and condoms for any students who want them. It is their job to work as advocates to OUSU, to the college and on the JCR committee regarding any welfare issues, so you can direct any problems you wish to see raised to them.

Peer Support
Peer supporters are members of the JCR who have been trained in listening skills by Oxford University Counselling Services.
You can give us a call, email, or see one of us at one of the peer support drop-in sessions. You can come and talk to us about anything that is bothering you, or just for a chat, moan and de-stress. Similarly, if you have bigger problems, we can be your first port of call, and can advise you on where to go for more comprehensive help. Anything you say will be treated in confidence, and with the utmost respect. For more information see http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/shw/peers.shtml.
University Wide Services
The university provides a professionally staffed counselling service to help with any problems. This service is completely free. They’re open weekdays between 9.15am and 5.15pm and appointments can be made by visiting the office at 11 Wellington Square or by phone on 01865 270300. This is not an emergency service, anyone in a ‘crisis’ should attempt to see their doctor.
Nightline is a phone service open from 8pm to 8am every night and staffed by trained counsellors. You can call on 01865 270270 with any problem at all.
OUSU provides a huge range of services. Including; a funding and access service, a disability advisory service, LGB services, a support group for students with eating disorders and many more. To find out about these services you can contact your welfare reps or OUSU directly (http://www.ousu.org/).
