JCR

The JCR is the body responsible for representing all of the undergraduates in Christ Church. We liaise with college authorities through individual meetings with the Censors, attendance of various committees and, crucially, the Governing Body, which meets three times a term. We are also affiliated to Oxford University Students’ Union. Christ Church JCR provides a number of services for its members, which are listed below.

Services

The JCR oversees the use of the Junior Common Room itself, where we have a range of facilities open to all undergraduates. This website is also one of the main services offered by the JCR for its members. Updated frequently, you can find almost all the information you could possibly need as a Christ Church student including Hall menus, information on Oxford, and information regarding college sports and societies. The JCR also organises Freshers’ Week, administers the room ballot, publishes the yearbook, arranges access tours and much more.

Welfare

With trained Welfare Reps, JCR is often a great first port of call for advice and information regarding any problems you may be facing. We work hard to guarantee that our members' diversity is celebrated by ensuring a number of people are directly involved in this – along with the Welfare Reps, we have committee members available to help with specific needs, including the LGB Rep, the Access and Academic Affairs Rep, and the Vice-President, who acts as the JCR Equal Opportunities watchdog. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with any of these people should you require help.

Entertainment and Arts

We have two Entz reps and a Bar Rep who liaise with college to provide members with a packed termcard of fun. We also run a programme of arts events, such as open mic nights, throughout the year, organised by the JCR Arts Rep. Our RAG Reps raise money for good causes in creative ways, and various other reps put on events for your entertainment and interest, including Guest Dinners (the Food Reps), careers evenings, LGB events and more.. If you have any suggestions for an event you'd like to see, contact a JCR rep, they'll be eager to see what they can do.

Representation

Our representatives sit on several college committees, vote in OUSU council and maintain routine lines of communication with all the college's principal officers and staff. Christ Church is a great college in many ways, but when problems do arise it is the policy of the JCR to see those resolved on behalf of individual members and to effect sensible change where necessary. Come to the General Meetings, which occur three times a term, where we discuss issues, resolve policy, select projects for charitable donations and give you the chance to make sure we’re running your JCR exactly how you’d like us to.
