JCR Committee

 The Exec:

President - Evelyn Ashton-Griffiths

I’m Evelyn, your JCR President. Within college, it’s my job to oversee the running of the JCR and to make sure your Committee are doing their jobs correctly. I also meet weekly with the Censors to discuss any issues you may have raised either directly with me or through motions in General Meetings. Outside of college, I represent your views in OUSU Councils and liaise with other colleges to make sure life at Christ Church is the best it can be. Come and visit me in Peck 1.2 if you have any issues to raise, don’t know which Committee member to contact, or want a chat and free tea.

Vice President - Tobias Neumann

I'm Tobi, your current JCR Vice President. My main area of responsibility is chairing our General Meetings, dealing with constitutional matters and assisting Evelyn. Hence, I am the first person to contact if you have any queries about the procedures of General Meetings or any constitutional concerns. Furthermore, I chair the JCR Renovation Committee and am the JCR equality and anti-discrimination watchdog. So if you have any ideas or worries with regard to these topics, please let me know.

Junior Treasurer - Sam Martin

I’m Sam and have succeeded Kamran as the JCR’s Junior Treasurer. I liaise with the JCR Senior Treasurer Martin Grossel in the creation of the JCR’s Annual Accounts and supervise the spending of both our block grant and the JCR levies. I record expenditure, reimbursing JCR members for JCR activities with the help of the Manciple Jenny Gay.  I help the JCR committee financially support JCR activities and am required to reduce outgoings in order to ensure a positive balance sheet.
As a member of the executive committee I help other committee members to function in their respective roles. I enjoy long walks in the park, holding T-Bry’s hand. Sometimes we skip.
Secretary - Freddie Manson

Hi there, I’m Freddie and I am the JCR Secretary until the end of Michaelmas 2010. For those of you who I haven’t met yet I’m a second year Historian living in Liddell. The position of Secretary is certainly not that revolutionary in the grand scheme of things; the Secretary’s role is primarily to ensure that everyone in our wonderful college is aware of general meetings and that motions are requested and collected prior to these. If you have ideas for motions but don’t quite know how to word them, don’t worry: I’m here to help. More radical is the job of disseminating the constitution to anyone who wishes to obtain it or being the person to whom you should deliver your revolutionary petitions aimed at the removal of committee members. Additionally, in an attempt to stem the recent tide of anger and suspicion aimed at the elected officials of Great Britain I shall keep you all informed about the details of Committee and Censors meetings by publishing them in my weekly emails. I don’t have a budget to fiddle with.
